BACK PAIN
Anyone who suffers from back pain will know the misery it can cause. It can affect anyone of any age but it is a problem more prevalent with people aged between 35 and 55. One of the main cases of back pain is bad posture. Good posture encourages your muscles, joints and ligaments to work as nature intended. It means that your vital organs are in the right position and can function at peak efficiency. Without good posture, your overall health and total efficiency may be compromised. In the long term bad posture can affect the digestive and respiratory system. HOW CAN EARTH SHOES HELP ? Earth shoes were specially designed to improve posture. Yoga master Anne Kalso spent 10 years meticulously researching, designing and constructing the Earth shoes. Her inspiration came from African women who walked with water pots on their heads. She noticed how magnificent their posture was and studied their movements more. Much to Anne's surprise she saw that the heels of the women's feet left a deeper imprint in the sand. She wanted to mirror the principle of heel lower than the front of the foot in a pair of shoes. As you step into Earth shoes your posture will be instantly improved because of the unique Negative Heel Technology, which means the heel is lower than the front. As your heel pushes back, your shoulders will roll back, your chest will expand and your head will be pulled up. The spine will then re-align, As your spine re-aligns the core muscles are strengthened. Gladys Devine, is just one of many people who've experienced significant pain relief since wearing Earth shoes. She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, a condition that has caused her 18 years' of pain in her back and joints. The agony was so bad, Mrs Devine could only walk short distances and with the aid of a stick. Mrs Devine, 62, from Staffordshire said: "My quality of life was terrible. Whatever I did, there would be pain in my spine and legs. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone. Today Mrs Devine's life is very different. She now enjoys long walks in the beautiful countryside surrounding her home; she's dumped her walking stick and is even contemplating dance lessons. "These shoes are amazing. I can do everything I've always wanted to do and I'm thrilled," said Mrs Devine.
Maintain a good posture - avoid slumping in your chair, hunching over your desk or walking around with your shoulders hunched up. Exercise your back regularly - try swimming, exercise bikes and walking. Never twist and bend at the same time. Use a chair with a backrest and make sure your feet are flat on the floor. Lift and carry objects close to your back.
