Hannah's Diary

Case History

TonewalkerRegular wearer of Earth Negative Heel footwear and occasionally flat shoes which have no pronounced foot bed or support. Since wearing flat shoes, I have developed twinges in both knees (particularly when walking DOWN stairs) and tightness in my plantar ligament.  Reasonably toned and fit but my problem areas for surplus weight are the midriff and back areas.

I would like to see an improvement in the tone of my abdominal muscles and a reduction in my waist measurement.  I have not changed my diet at all but generally eat healthily. I will incorporate Tonewalkers in to my lifestyle (which is very sedentary – I do well if I complete 4k steps a day some days!!) and start power walking in the evenings to boost circulation, improve cardiovascular fitness and well being.

On trying the shoes for the first time.

My Tonewalkers arrived, I am so excited!! I’ve been eagerly waiting for my samples to arrive so I can start to see how great these sandals can make me feel.  I have a wedding reception to attend next month so any weight loss and toning up which occurs between now and early September would be fantastic.

I struggled with finding my balance and was only able to walk gingerly around the house.  I really struggled with slightly more complex balances and sitting  back on the shoes to perform the heel stretch exercise; I need to focus on stretching out my muscles with my new Tonewalkers as my hamstrings, calves and Achilles are really tight. I also attempted Swan Walking (a much more difficult move) which left me incredibly sore the following day (SILLY ME – THINK I GOT A LITTLE CARRIED AWAY!!)

July 17th

As soon as the sandals are on my feet my posture is almost instantly corrected. My shoulders have rolled back and I feel myself standing in natural position even though it is difficult to sustain since I am having to counteract the wobble!! I can also feel the shoes target my deep stomach muscles – in particularly my Oblique Abdominals – bye bye love handles!!

Wobbled around while on the move at work and was VERY unstable going down the stairs at work – I had to hold on for dear life as the motion felt unnatural and very unnerving!! I’ve got to persevere, no pain no gain as they say and I can’t avoid stairs – they are everywhere!!

July 18th

Tonewalker PinkDid not wear the shoes at all today. While my legs felt sore the greatest discomfort was felt in my feet and knees. The usual twinges occurred when going down the stairs in the morning / evening and if anything the pain was worse than it had ever been before. Disappointedly, I’m not feeling any better but its very early days yet.

July 19th

Did not wear the shoes again today as I still felt a little sore. I was very tempted to wear them again but sore muscles must have time to recover and I really wouldn’t want to aggravate my knees any more.

July 25th

Wore the shoes all day around the office and only briefly at home.  Still need to get a little more confident in them as quite unsteady around the house (stairs are still quite a challenge and I have to hold on to banister every time I go up or down) Felt very hungry all day – hungrier than I have been in a long time. This is strange as the heat tends to suppress my appetite.  Hopefully it’s my metabolism picking up a little…

July 26th

Wore sandals around the office.  Growing in confidence now whilst wearing them (not quite so wobbly) and I am finding myself skipping around in them and moving around much more quickly. I’m still ravenous!! I am beginning to tighten up around my waist and I feel like me trunk is getting stronger.  Stupidly wore flat shoes and instantly felt pain in my heel, arches and calves – these shoes are useless, they need to be binned as they just allow my feet to pronate..the silly shoes must GO!

July 27th

Tonewalker BlackWore sandals around home while I completed chores (washing up, hovering, dusting, washing and going out to garden to hang out washing) Completed lots of trips up and down the stairs which took my heart rate up and made my legs ache. Got lots of relief performing heel stretch whilst washing up (standing still and just shifting body weight from one foot to the other).  Appetite still enhanced – it must be the shoes??

July 28th

Wore the sandals at work and around the house in the evening.  Pottered around all evening completed 11 flights of the stairs that evening.  I felt my heart rate increase and I was beginning to get out of breathe after the fourth time up the stairs in close succession. Danced around the house in my Tonewalkers which also took my heart rate up.

Discovered a fabulous exercise that really challenged my leg muscles while I was sorting through my CD’s.

* Squatting down on while you distribute your weight on the platform area.  They aren’t kidding about the deep vein pumping action.  My legs felt like they were made of steel after being engaged in this position for 10 minutes – THIS FELT INCREDIBLY  TOUGH EXERCISE – EVEN HARDER PART WAS GETTING UP! Calves and Achilles especially benefited from this exercise – must do that again in a few days.

Felt tired, like my energy reserves had been really challenged and I can rally feel that these shoes burn more calories than standard footwear. Slept very well that evening (not that I usually struggle, but the quality seemed better)

July 29th and 30th

Went away for the weekend and since I was driving – I had to leave my Tonewalkers at home L

Monday 31st July

Wore sandals around office. Every step I take is packed with energy and I am loving wearing my Tonewalkers.

Tuesday 1st August

Wore sandals around office. Not especially active.

Started a log today of my measurements to see if they improve while wearing Tonewalkers.

Wednesday 2nd August

Wore sandals around office. Not especially active.

Thursday 3rd August

Tonewalker KhakiWore sandals around office. Not especially active.

I have already toned up around my hips, waist and stomach area. The areas that have reduced are where I would expect the Tonewalkers to target since they target similar muscles to those toned when “Centring” (Pilates exercise)

I’m  really impressed and keen to see if this continues. Will measure myself again in a few days time J

 Friday August 4th

Wore sandal all day at work and around the house in the evening.  Wasn’t especially active that day – competed gentle walk in them and no moderate, extreme exercises.

Couldn’t wait another day so get the tape measure out again – and huraah!!, more inch loss to report!! I can’t wait for the wedding reception (I’m certainly going to buy myself a new dress if this carries on!!)

Saturday / Sunday – Didn’t wear Tonewalkers

Went to music event and did a lot of walking in standard footwear.

August 7th

Wore shoes all day at work.  I am now able to complete heel walks without any twinges and with correct posture.  My leg muscles certainly feel like they are lengthened. Did not wear them at home.

August 8th

Wore shoes all day at work.  In addition to heel walks, I am taking much longer strides in the shoes and running around in them whenever I can.  Heel walks to continue stretching out my muscles but I am definitely improving – no twinges in knee at all!! The longer strides seem to tareget my lower abdominal muscles and the tone is beginning to develop there.

August 9th

Wore shoes all day at work. Again lots of heel walking and continuing to complete lots of long strides in them which are so good at firming the lower tummy region.

August 10th

Wore shoes all day at work and also around the house.  Went up and down stairs 6 times, continued to focus on taking longer steps as well as lots of heel walking.  I completed steps while I washed up (10 mins) which really increased my heart rate.

Completed a heel stretch and I can now hold the stretch in a more upright position than ever before and I can feel my girdle of strength getting stronger and defined. Attempted to touch my toes while doing heel stretch which really pulled on my leg muscles – may have slightly overdone it today..

Tape measure confirms – MORE INCH LOSS!! I am SOOO happy – these shoes are such good value for money. when I think how much a gym member ship would have cost me and how long the results would take to appear…….

August 11th

Wore sandals all day at work and took the evening off as I was feeling a little sore in the calves. Plan to go out power walking over the weekend (weather pending of course..) My friend will soon have her Tonewalkers so we can then make a start on weekly / biweekly walk. I can’t wait! The results with light to moderate wear have been remarkable, I am very interested to see how much weight I will loose once I add power walking to my lifestyle.

August 12th  & 13th

Did not wear the shoes all weekend as I was feeling quite sore.  I slightly pulled my side while tidying up on Friday and don’t want to aggravate it.

August 14th

Back to Earth!! Still sore so wearing my Serengeti Acojou boots to realign my posture and muscles.

August 15th

Wearing  Tonewalkers again now I’m not feeling so sore.  I recall moving something heavy at the weekend and straining – I never learn (no wonder I wear shoes to correct my posture – I seem to think I’m wonder woman sometimes!)

August 16th

Wore sandals around the office.  Went Trafford Centre and wore them while I shopped for 3 hours!! Although I was absolutely exhausted, by the end of it I did struggle to get to sleep that evening. My plantar ligament felt more curved and my arches somewhat more defined. Can’t help thinking how I will feel in the morning – this is the most I have walked in my Tonewalkers since getting them.

August 17th

Wore Earth all day – don’t want to go overdoing it.  Lots of energy today (even though I didn’t get straight off to sleep last night) Surprisingly I feel great – not as sore as I expected.  I certainly feel as if my fitness is improving.

I can’t measure my fitness but I can measure my body!! And its reducing – STILL!!!

August 18th

Working in warehouse today so not a suitable environment for Tonewalkers. Got Earth Boots on today and boy do I know about it by the end of the day.  I’ve walked miles in them so I’ve certainly burnt some calories !!

August 19th and 20th

Did not wear sandals all day.

August 21st

Wore sandals all day around the office.

August 22nd

Wore sandals all day around the office.

August 23rd

Wore sandals for half a day around the office.

I’ve never been so pleased to see a tape measure!! The fear of dread is no more as I just know that I have lossed even more off my waist, hips and stomach.  My leg muscles have been significantly lengthened and they are looking much more slender (I have a tendency for the muscle to bulk up – not any more!!)

September 7 th

Wore sandals around the office all day. My waist has continued to reduce although all other measurements have stablized…I can live with that (so can my boyfriend who has started to take a real interest in my tummy and hips lately….)

September 8 th

Wore sandals around the office all day.

September 9 th

Went back home for wedding reception and felt amazing in my “old new dress”

Its a great feeling of achievement to finally wear something I bought years ago but lacked the confidence to go through with wearing it out. My mum was VERY complimentary of my legs and commented on their tone being similar to when I used to sprint but thankfully she added that they are “on a much more feminine scale” than they were back then….PHEW!!!!!!!

Going home also gives me the chance to weigh myself and yet more fantastic news to report in that I have lost about 6 pounds since I was last home (approx 3 months ago) Initially this worried my poor mum (she remembers the days when I was 11 stone plus!) until I showed her my new curves she was amazed and guess what…..she has ordered a pair to wear around the house!!!!!!! She sommented on the areas where weight loss had occurred and made by day by saying that Ihad lost “no-end” off my back, waist and tummy areas – RESULT!!!

At the reception, my “weight loss” didn’t go unnoticed. Thanks Tonewalkers I am thrilled and now an official evangelist!!
