Brand Info
Jingas are the original Brazilian Barefooting trainer! 'Jinga’ comes from the Portuguese word ‘Ginga’. A uniquely Brazilian concept, it signifies the way you move, the way you express yourself and the unique style that you bring to everything you do. Jinga shoes are about helping you release your ‘Jinga!’ Hailing from Brazil and originally designed for Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art demanding lightning speed and agility, Jinga shoes are the ultimate in lightness and flexibility and are designed to offer all the sensations of going barefoot.
Technology Explained
The slimline sole of Jingas means that your feet are encouraged to move ‘naturally’. Too much cushioning means we lose touch with the real impact our feet make on the ground, and walk as if we have weights on the end of our legs.
Wearing Jingas makes sure you literally have your feet on the ground, you can feel the different parts of the foot engage with the ground and start to use the muscles in your feet as nature intended, giving a Brazilian spring to your step!
Jingas are finished by hand and made in Brazil, in a factory monitored to ensure ethical production standards. Jinga also provides the funding for a social project in one of Rio’s favelas.
FAQ's
Where are Jingas made?

Are Jingas animal friendly?
Yes! Jingas use no animal products in their manufacture and have been certified by the Vegan Society.
What can I use them for?
Jingas are incredibly light, flexible and comfortable. So apart from being designed for Capoeira and martial arts, they are also great for dancing, walking, relaxing etc.
Are they just for summer?
No, you can use them all year round. In fact due to the obliging and adaptable nature of Jingas, they are just as good for wearing without socks when it’s warm (with the added bonus that they’re easy to wash) and with socks for keeping your feet nice and toasty when it gets a bit chilly (as it often does here). They’re not so good for wearing in the rain as they’re not waterproof so please be nice to them and wear your welly boots on rainy days!
How does the sizing work?
Jinga Adults sizes are EU 35/UK2 to EU47/UK12. Jingas fit as per European sizing. There is a Jinga size conversion chart on the site converting between UK, US and EU sizes if you need some help!
Are Jingas Ethical?
Jingando Ltd is a social enterprise. This means that out company profits go to providing opportunities for socially excluded young people – we provide 25% funding to a social project on one of Rio’s poorest shanty towns, so now what you wear really can make you feel good about yourself.
How do you make sure the social project you support uses the money effectively?
We don’t just support the project financially, when in Brazil we donate a fair portion of hard graft as well! As such, we have a strong relationship with the NGO managing the project (www.redeh.org.br) and receive regular updates as to the progress of the program.
