The Dr Martens brand was born on 1^st April 1960 and since their introduction they have created a quiet revolution within the footwear market.

Dr Klaus Maertens, based in Munich, Germany, had a number of inventions, the most special being a shoe sole that due to its honeycomb design was quite literally made of air. The Griggs family were based in Northampton, England and they had a reputation for making high quality footwear. These two parties combined forces after meeting through an advert in the classified pages and since then an icon has been born based on innovation and self expression.

Dr Martens’ classic design has been synonymous with subcultures and fashion movements from Mods in the 1960s to Punks in the 1970s and they are seen as an “anti-fashion” product with a high fashion following.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary Dr Martens have collaborated with some of the most high fashion bands around to create an album that represents both the brand and the spirit of the people who have pulled on a pair of Dr Martens over the past 50 years.

Product Comment : I always consider myself to be a size 6. And I still am, yet in recent years I sometimes find that companies make the shoes smaller, so I have to go higher to 6.5 or I get away with a 7! With this boot, size 6 was perfect and true to size. Its wide and comfy and not touching on the end. And after wearing it around the house for a bit it felt even better and my leg was warm and comfortable. I saw many reviews on this boot, that you definitely dont need to go a size up for comfort, and I was happy I ordered a size 6, because it was indeed perfect. I would like to add that I dont have the pain in the knee that I had from wearing flats before, and these are stylish and fun. What a bargain!
