Technology Explained

SealSkinz socks use patented technology to guarantee that they are fully waterproof and breathable.

The multipurpose design ensures that in cold and wet conditions, the waterproof technology in SealSkinz socks keeps your feet dry and warm while in warm weather the sweat is wicked away from the skin through the breathable membrane layer keeping the feet fresh.

SealSkinz socks keep your feet totally dry whatever the conditions and they also help to reduce blisters as the triple layer technology prevents your foot from rubbing against the shoe therefore reducing friction.

The innovative technology from SealSkinz innovative is based around a three layer construction, an outer layer, a waterproof, breathable membrane and an inner layer. 

The waterproof technology uses a waterproof membrane to keep the feet dry and comfortable.

The highly breathable mebrane reduces sweat by allowing moisture to escape through the inner layer to the outer layer.

The Inner Layer

The inner lining has been specifically developed to wick moisture away from the feet to increase comfort while also preventing blisters and fungal problems. The inner layer is made using either Coolmax or Merino wool which are both known for their high performing wicking properties. 

The Middle Layer

The middle layer consists of a polyurethane membrane that is both waterproof and breathable and it is inserted using patented technology. This membrane allows perspiration to escape while preventing any water coming in, it has a breathability of more than 65% Water Vapour Permeable and in waterproof tests it exceeded 300cms hydrostatic head which is 3 times the level that is required to meet the European standards for waterproof clothing.

The Outer Layer

The outer layer of SealSkinz socks is specifically designed for durability and abrasion resistance. Elasticated to fit to the foot, they are tough and designed to stand up to whatever the weather throws at you.

SealSkinz socks can be machine washed up to 40^oC however it is advised that you check the care labels of the individual product and you do not iron or dry out on a radiator or other direct heat source.
