Simple shoes were established in 1991; after recognising how the production of their trainers was impacting the environment Simple held their hands up and focused on changing their ways. Since 2006 Simple have been fully committed to creating the first 100% sustainable shoe range, this means materials have to be carefully sourced. All simple shoes include recycled materials ranging from car tyres to water bottles.
How can a shoe be 100% sustainable? Easy, the uppers of Simple shoes are made using certified organic cotton and some of the boots are made using hemp which has been coated in beeswax. The soles of the shoes are made using recycled bike or car tires and even details such as the buttons are sustainable as they’re made using recycled inner tubes. Even the shoe boxes containing Simple shoes are sustainable as they’re made from recycled cardboard and a starch based glue!
Simple shoes don’t make shoes that feature unnecessary benefits; instead they focus on making shoes which are not only 100% sustainable but also fashionable and can be worn everyday. So if style and sustainability is wanted in equal measure, the award winning Simple trainers are a perfect solution!
