Teva was originally founded in 1984 by a Grand Canyon River Guide. By combining the freedom of a flip flop together with the security of an ankle strap, the world's first sports sandal was born. Initially the first Teva shoes were sold out of the back of a van along the river bed but over the past 25 years Teva have worked hard to build up a brand which is now synonymous with outdoor activities and are constantly innovating their designs to create shoes which are perfect for enjoying the outdoors whatever the terrain! 

Even after their succes Teva are still fully commited to nature and protecting planets waterways. The term “Teh’-vah” comes from the Hebrew language and means nature while the hand in the Teva logo is actually derived from the symbolic language of the Hopi people. When translated the hand signifies friendship while the spiral is the symbol for water, together the Teva logo stands for friendship with water. 

Teva are still committed to working with nature and are involved with a number of organisations whose aim it is to support the planet and encourage people to enjoy outdoor activites. Teva has paired up with Waterkeep Alliance and in 2008 launched a clean up of the waterways in 10 regions of the United States. Teva has been a member of Conservation Next for many years and work to support campaigns that protect wild areas which have been threatened. Teva also works alongside the Outdoor Foundation to encourage healthy outdoor lifestyles and promote outdoor activities amongst young people so future generations can enjoy the great outdoors for years to come.

Teva have developed the following technologies which feature in different combinations across the LoveThoseShoes Teva range:

Spider Rubber: A patented manufacturing process produces a highly versatile rubber compound that combines high friction properties with good durability to make a non marking outsole which can perform on both wet and dry terrain.  The White Spider Rubber technology offers the same exceptional grip even in freezing temperatures while the Spider 365 grip can handle a variety of terrains and situations.

Microban Zinc: This zinc technology provides anti microbial protection that controls and prevents any odour to keep your feet fresh all day long. This technology is also environmentally friendly and won’t wash or wear off. 

Drain Frame: Teva’s unique, patent pending technology provides the shoes with superb ventilation and drainage properties. There are a number of small holes in the sole with mesh screens which allow water to escape through the bottom of the shoe whilst also preventing any debris such as stones from entering them. These holes also allow air to flow through them giving the sandals great ventilation and keeping the feet comfortable no matter what the weather.

T.I.D.E Seal: The T.I.D.E Seal ensures that your feet stay dry even in wet conditions by sealing out the water.

ShocPad: The Shoc Pad absorbs shock on imapct and Teva compare it to riding a bike with a seat - it gives you a smooth ride without inhibiting your performance on the way. 

Mush: Teva’s range of Mush styles have been specifically designed for those who love wearing flip flops and dread the end of summer when it gets too cold to wear them. These super lightweight styles have been designed to offer all the things that are great about flip flops but with the added protection and warmth of a shoe. 

eVent: The eVent uppers feature a waterproof membrane which also wicks moisture away from the feet so they stay dry and fresh all day long.
